Tex-Mex, Lotus flowers, Staff Writing Position OMG!!! etc. etc.

Free People blazer and knee socks; vintage fur scarf, gloves, and sheer cream tunic; hue tights; Bandolino riding boots.

vintage fur bustier, worn as vest; french connection peasant blouse; HM skirt; LOFT tights; Frye wedges; Michael Kors watch. This was my outfit for my boyfriend's Tex-Mex themed birthday party! I love the idea of tights and sandals. I was inspired by Net-a-porter's weekly online magazine.

After walking four blocks alone in the dark (oh, no, I wasn't alone--a man accompanied me so courteously halfway to my destination. Don't know how I wasn't mugged.), I arrived at the Lotus Eaters concert. Look how red my hand is. 😦 SO COLD OUT. I love my charcoal-gray Sisley coat!

This was called the "Headlight Burger" ... because there's an egg on it? Or because it looks like a breast? I thought it was soooo funny as the latter. I mean... isn't it genius?? My mind is always in the gutter.

Andrew, lead singer and guitarist of Lotus Eater. They played for a huge group of people that night at the Triple Rock, along with "I Like Your Purse" and "Bambi and the Tin Man." Awesome line-up. The CD's I pictured a post before were sold there! Contact the Lotus Eater facebook group if you want a CD or free download: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Lotus-Eater/182703921368

One of the I Like Your Purse band members had KILLER boots. Don't know where he got them. I wish I'd gotten a picture of this guy wearing a vintage Louis Vuitton graphic T. I've never seen anything like it, and I appreciated its irony.

Hey, it’s been a loooong time 😦 Sorry. I’ve been working a whole 12.5 hours a week at my on-campus job… woe is me. Poor, poor me. Seriously, I shouldn’t complain. But all those hours certainly add up and take away things like sleep and blogging time! I’m going to have even more limited amounts of time now (so.. less time..?) because …. …..

…. I got hired as one of the staff writers for the Fashion Business magazine!!! YOWZA!! I’m so, so excited to share my input in this publication. I think it’s going to be a great outlet for U of M students interested in fashion. You can see it here: http://issuu.com/fabmag/docs/feb2011?mode=embed&backgroundColor=000000&layout=http%3A%2F%2Fskin.issuu.com%2Fv%2Fcolor%2Flayout.xml and I have a little section on page 12. Cute! I’m meeting with my other FAB mag team members this weekend to talk about what we want to incorporate in the magazine. I really liked the photoshoot in this first issue (I think I own one of the scarves they used in it…?). I think it’d be fun to talk about the best second-hand/vintage stores around, or new stores nearby (Forever21 just came to Rosedale Mall). I also want to cite blogs, books, magazines, and movies related to fashion. Even articles for DIY clothing or cooking would be great to put in the magazine. There was also a men’s article that was quite entertaining to read. More of that would help spread the magazine’s appeal, for sure. I want to see more artwork/images/illustrations in the magazine. I want sections for student feedback. I want more streetstyle pictures, too! (Celebrity emulation, avant-garde street pictures… you name it!)

Any ideas for what makes a great magazine? This FAB mag is a short one, so go ahead and click on the link and scan it–what pops at you in a good or bad way? I’m so intimidated…I am going to have to really work hard to make this publication the best it can be!

Alsooo, I’m supposed to model for Kathryn V Sterner (LOOK HER UP… her clothes are amazing) for a TV show tomorrow night. I’m so intrigued!! And … of course … very intimidated.

I want to do a post on my favorite foods next. I have been eating so many cookies lately… 🙂

About Leslie

I'm just a girl, little old me I live in Minneapolis. I go to school at the U of M. That makes me sound like everyone else :) However... I am full of conversation, to the point that I HAD to start a blog to keep all my thoughts about fashion straight, and more importantly, to connect with all of YOU and my fellow bloggers! I can't wait to share pictures and stories. PS. WARNING: my camera sucks. One day, hopefully SOON, I will be obtaining a lovelier instrument.
